Dark Folk

...auf ewig wald...

Latest release

The Sea I'm Diving In

Our most open record. For the first time voices carry most of the songs, and the arrangements drift closer to film score than to folk. Neofolk and post-rock meet a sense of cinematic storytelling. Released in 2017.

Nine worlds, one room

Neun Welten formed in 2001 around a simple idea: acoustic instruments, given enough space to breathe. Recorder, clarinet, violin, piano, guitar and double bass, arranged less like a folk band and more like a small chamber ensemble that wandered off into the woods.

The debut mini CD Valg appeared in 2004, followed by Vergessene Pfade two years later. By Destrunken in 2009 the band had become a fixture of the international dark folk scene, touring alongside Tenhi and Dornenreich. The Sea I'm Diving In opened the music up again, adding voices and a cinematic sense of narrative.
